Donor Privacy Policy

• We will never sell, rent, share, or trade your personal information with any other organization for their marketing or fundraising purposes. 
• We will never share your name with another organization without your explicit permission.
• We will only contact you in the ways you have asked us to.
• We will always give you a way to opt out of any communications from us.
• We will protect your information using reasonable security practices. 

When you make a donation, we may collect the following information:

• Your name and email address
• Your mailing address - required for written tax acknowledgement letters for donations of $250 or more.
• Your donation amount and date
• Payment information - processed securely by Zeffy and never stored by The Mother Whisperer directly.
• Any Personal message you choose to include with your donation

If you prefer to donate anonymously, please note this in your donation or contact us at themotherwhisperer@gmail.com

We use your information only to:

• Process your donation and send a confirmation
• Send a tax acknowledgement letter for donations of $250 or more as required by the IRS
• Send you updates about how your donation is being used - the mothers served, the bundles delivered, the impact made
• Thank you personally for your generosity
• Contact you about future giving opportunities if you have not opted out

We will never use your information for purposes beyond those listed above without asking you first.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, The Mother Whisperer is required by the IRS to provide written acknowledgement for any single donation of $250 or more. This letter will include 

• Your name and the date of your donation
• The amount of your cash contribution
• A statement confirming that no goods or services were provided in exchange for the donation 
• Our organization name, address and EIN number

We will send this letter to the address you provided within 30 days of receiving your donation.

If you share personal story, testimonial, or reason for giving us, we may use it in our communications to inspire others - but only with your explicit permission. We will always ask before using your name or story publicly. You will always have the option to remain anonymous.

With your permission, we may recognize your generosity on our website, social media, or in our quarterly impact reports. We will always ask before listing your name publicly. If you prefer your donation to remain private, simply let us know and we will honor that completely.

After your donation, you may receive:

• A donation confirmation email immediately
• A tax acknowledgement letter for donation of $250 or more
• Occasional impact updates showing how your donation is being used
• Newsletter communications if you opted in

You may opt out of any of these communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, emailing us at themotherwhisperer@gmail.com, or using our website contact form. 

We will honor all opt-out request withing 10 business days 

We take the security of your donor information seriously. We protect it by:

• Using Zeffy - a trusted secure nonprofit donation platform - to process all financial transactions. Your payment information is never stored on our system.
• Limiting access to donor records to only the people within our organization who need it to serve you.
• Not storing sensitive financial information beyond what is required for tax and legal purposes.
• Reviewing our security practices regularly as our organization grows.

As The Mother Whisperer grows and applies for grants and external recognition, some accountability organization such as charity navigator or GuildStar may request aggregate donation information as part of their review process. We will never share individual donor information as part of these reviews without your consent.

We may update this Donor Privacy Policy as our organization grows or as laws change. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify our donor community by email.
